  Visitor Visas/Permits  

 

What is required:

To be eligible to come to New Zealand as a visitor there are a number of requirements you need to meet before you get here. To enter New Zealand you need:

  • To be in good health and of good character

  • a passport that is valid for at least three (3) months past the date you are to leave New Zealand

  • to be a genuine visitor/tourist, in other words you have plans to leave and can prove this

  • proof that you have enough money to support yourself during your stay

  • to have the right visa for your visit

People exempt from having to obtain a temporary visa (Immigration Regulations)

 The following people are exempt from having to obtain a temporary visa:

  • people who hold a current resident return visa issued by the Government of Australia; and

  • people listed in the table below;

* Portuguese passport holders must also have the right to live permanently in Portugal.

** Including nationals of the USA.

People travelling on a United Nations (UN) laissez-passer.

 

Visits up to 6 months:

British citizens, and other British passport holders who produce evidence of the right to reside permanently in the United Kingdom.
