Principal applicant/s must score a minimum of one point for investment funds. (The Minister of Immigration has currently set the points pass mark for the Investor category at 12 points)

You need to be able to settle and contribute: To be granted residence under the Investor Category, you need to demonstrate that you could successfully settle in and contribute to New Zealand by showing that:

  •  you intend to make NZ your main home, and

  • you can financially maintain yourself and your family in New Zealand.

Business experience: You need to have at least five years’ business experience to be approved residence under the Investor Category.

The length of business experience is based on at least 30 hours per week. NZIS may give you credit for part-time business experience on a proportional basis, so if you have gained eight years’ business experience at 15 hours per week, this would equate to four years’ business experience based on a 30-hour week.
